Tapestry Vocal Ensemble
was founded in 1995 by Laurie Monahan, Cristi Catt, and Daniela
Toic and has established an international reputation for its
bold conceptual programming which combines medieval and traditional
repertory with contemporary compositions. Tapestry has won numerous
awards, including WQXR and Chamber Music America's Recording of the
Year and the prestigious Echo Klassik Prize for their recording Sapphire
Tapestry often designs specific concerts for venues. One of their recent programs, Starry Night, ,premiered at the Wilson Observatory in LA . Kelly Garrison, General Director of the Da Camera had this to say of the concert: "Tapestry was nothing short of BRILLIANT. Their programming and performance was incredible. It's in my Top 10 Chamber Music in Historic Sites concert experiences pairing 'site and sound'." For this exploration of the Night Sky, Tapestry brings together gorgeous music and imagery for a one-of-a-kind experience weaving together 16th-century Spanish Villancicos with works of Claude Debussy, Hildegard von Bingen, Alan Hovhanness, Ivan Moody and Patricia Van Ness.
Tapestry has made four recordings for Telarc International: Angeli,
Celestial Light, Song of Songs, and The Fourth River. Tapestry has
made two recordings with German Label MDG: Sapphire Night and Faces
of a Woman.
